Crown Casino to Move out of Macau?

Melbourne’s Crown Casino management are keeping very quiet about a potential sale of their Macau interest.

We know for certain that Crown will not be building the third Macau Casino that they initially planned to do and as their results have slumped from the worldwide recession there has been some speculation that they could want to get out of the region altogether.

However, I would say that this is pretty unlikely, James Packer is a shrewd Aussie and he knows that having a presence in Macau will be worth it’s weight in gold in the future (if not now)… the very fact that US giants Harrah’s have not got a license there is an indication of exactly how hard it is to get in – not the sort of thing you would just walk away from.

Our guess is that Crown will stay in the region and as a result the Aussie economy will benefit in the future.
