There is certain to be a lot of money being wagered online this weekend in Australia.
Anyone interested in racing, and indeed almost everyone else, will have heard of the remarkable Australian racing horse , Black Caviar. She has recently made the long journey to the UK to take part in the world famous Royal Ascot race meeting. She seems to have been unaffected by the long journey, and tomorrow will race in the Diamond Jubilee Stakes, which she is the outright favourite to win.
Her reputation is such that she has been called the Wonder from Down Under by the British press, and expectations are very high. She first raced in 2009 when she was a two year old. Since that time she has won all 21 races she has taken part in, a quite amazing and record breaking feat.
Her trainer, Peter Moody, is happy with her adaptation to English conditions and fully expects her to notch up her 22nd win tomorrow.
In recent times her betting odds have been such that no-one placing a bet expects to win very much money, even when she wins, which, of course, she always does. However, the odds are slightly better for this meeting in Ascot, and many Australians will be placing their bets, some even doing so just for the excitement of owning a betting slip connected to Black Caviar.
Thousands of Australians in the UK already have their tickets for the race day tomorrow. Many thousands more will be gathering in Melbourne to watch on big screens. The rest are likely to be hoping to place a bet through the internet, and no-one doubts that any of them will be worse off after the race.
