This is something that I could (and will) blog about until
I'm blue in the face!
Where to start... Well, I think I'll take you back to the first office I worked
in... things have changed a lot in the industry since then, but it's as good a
place to start as any...
As you'd expect, just like any other office there are good people and annoying
people.
The thing I was surprised about this first online casino office was the lack of
gamblers working there - this, I believed, was a fundamental error - how can a
service industry cater for an audience they don't really understand?
Having come from a sports book and horse racing / punting background in which
every person in the office would be betting all the time - this was very strange.
Secondly, I was also shocked at how focused on making money my first boss was -
now don't get me wrong, he was not trying to screw players over, or cheat them,
but often his face after a big winner was priceless - he could not believe the
fact that people had the gall to win!
I would try and explain to him time and time again, that this was the fun and
very essence of running a casino; if players don't win then you don't have a
business... Very amusing.
I think he was just a little too focused on his bonus... I'm sure there will be
many more posts based on the 'industry inside', so many stories to tell, so
little time...
