It's
an often quoted stat that Aussies are the biggest (if not necessarily
the best) gamblers on earth, is this really the case and how do people
come up with these stats?
It seems unlikely that Aussies
are as fanatical as the Chinese and Asian markets - the gambling stats
that come out of Macau and the bookies that run illegal operations on
the ground in China talk of the kind of wagering that the Western world
does not even come close to matching.
So why is it that Australia is often quoted as the biggest gambling
nation on earth? Probably because there are not official stats that
come out of China and much of the Asian markets, mainly because much of
the time the gambling that's taking place is actually illegal.
So until the far east become regulated and transparent it seems us Aussies will be branded the biggest gamblers on earth.
