Being Happy Not Good when Gambling Say Bofffins! (April 23, 2008)
AUSTRALIA - A new Australian study says that being upbeat and looking on the bright side of things may not be the best frame of mind when gambling.
Elizabeth Cowley, a professor at the University of Sydney, says that positive thinking can lead gamers to focus more on wins that on losses. This results in risking more money than they originally wanted to.
Research was conducted with over 300 casino games and when people won big a fair amount of time after having lost big they recorded their experience as being a positive one despite having lost money overall.
