NEW ZEALAND: TAB investigation in New Zealand. Senior employees at TAB New Zealand are being investigated over claims that they used company money (funded by public money) to bride pub landlords into installing video poker trusts that were racing friendly.
It is alleged that TAB employees offered major building working and decoration to landlords in exchange for the Video Poker installations. The allegations surround a Hamilton pub that received a full refit in exchange for installing the TAB sovereign pokies.
New Zealand runs pokies in pubs much the same way that Australia does and like in Aus, it is illegal to try and influence decisions regarding pokies with such gestures.
